On June 17, World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, we remember that restoring land and saving water are vital. Drought and land loss threaten ecosystems and livelihoods. Tools like the Water Saver Stick help: they let soil pull moisture from the air, support plant growth, and can cut irrigation by up to 50%. By using water more efficiently and strengthening soil, these technologies help fight desertification, sustain landscapes, and help communities adapt to climate change.

Water Saver Stick Demo (WIP) π¬
We are working on a demonstration display of Water Saver Stick.
WS-Stick facilitates the transfer of moisture from the air to the soil to allow healthy plant growth with reduction in irrigation and water consumption.
The WSS bio-energy water saving stick is made of steel that has been specifically modified with proprietary technology to change micro atomic structure of standard steel carrier material. After placing the WSS 2m apart into the ground and acclimatize for around 3 months, water irrigation can be reduced up to 50%.
Case Study: Water Saver Sticks π§
WS-Sticks were selected as an innovative solution in the CapitaLand Sustainability X Challenge 2021 and successfully piloted from January to July 2022 at Aperia, a CapitaLand property in Singapore. In this pilot, 85 WS-Sticks were embedded across a 375 sqm lawn, and after a 3-month acclimatization period, the grass maintained healthy growth despite a minimum 30% reduction in irrigation water. The project demonstrated a return on investment of approximately 1.8 years. Beyond financial savings, WS-Sticks contribute to sustainability by reducing water usage and maximizing the efficiency of each drop, thereby lowering the overall water footprint.
